About Erin McNamara

I have been interested in helping people since beginning my college career.  I was a psychology major at Catholic University and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Psychology in 1994.  Since that time, I focused my attention on the mental health profession and eventually pursued my Master’s in Social Work (MSW).  I graduated from Catholic University with my Master’s in Social Work in 2000.  I continued my clinical training and most recently completed a psychotherapy training program at the Metro Washington Center of the International Psychotherapy Institute.  I am qualified to provide psychotherapy, holding advanced clinical social work licenses in both Maryland and Washington, D.C.

Since receiving my MSW, I worked for Catholic Charities as a foster care social worker and then spent three years as a psychiatric social worker in a private psychiatric hospital.  I then became the Director of Social Work at this hospital and remained in this position for the following three years.  I am currently the Director of Social Services at St. Ann’s Infant and Maternity Home.  I have provided individual, family and group therapies in private practice, in my employment at a private psychiatric hospital and in my current position at St. Ann’s in the Teen Mother Baby Program.  I have worked with a variety of clients including children as young as five years old, adolescents and adults.

Iam a member of the National Association of Workers and the Greater Washington Society for Clinical Social Work (GWSCSW).
